The Levo System for Tinnitus
Through a series of interactive activities, the precise sounds of your tinnitus are identified, giving you the means to understand and demonstrate to others the sound you live with. This sound is unique to you and is used to create an individualized therapy for you to use at home while you sleep.
Like 'defragging' a computer’s hard drive, the brain efficiently reorganizes itself while we sleep. Selectively removing the unnecessary bits of information, our brain prioritizes new and stored information to lock in learning and memory. As a result, new neural connections are created, rerouted, or reduced to make way for new learning and problem-solving activities.
By using the Levo System at night, patients leverage the brain's natural ability to diminish the effects of tinnitus over time. Using the Levo manager, the Levo System is set to create a sound that matches the patient’s own tinnitus symptoms. As a person’s tinnitus struggles are highly individual, the Levo manager has many adjustments and matching options to allow for a high level of sound customization.
Once the sound therapy program is set, it is saved for our hearing specialists to reference on the patient’s return visits. The sound match program is sent to the patient’s personal Levo device so it can be used by the patient at home. Specifically designed high-fidelity earbuds are used to deliver the sound of the therapy each night.
At the patient’s home, the patient will use the Levo system every night as they sleep. As the Levo system plays the patient’s custom tinnitus sound, their brain will become trained to ignore the tinnitus sounds. Patients will set the volume of the therapy each night to equal the volume of their own tinnitus.
With regular check-ups with our hearing specialists, a patient’s tinnitus sensitivity will be tracked in the Levo manager, and adjustments made to the Levo system as needed.
